San Martin de Pangoa is a washed coffee from Peru - our first from this origin in 2022. It's accessible, but not boring, with a present but soft red apple acidity that pairs nicely with a caramel sweetness. In terms of body, it's neither heavy nor light, and will taste delicious pulled as espresso or infused in a cafetière.
Peru is one of the world's biggest producers of coffee, and one of the leading growers of certified coffees. Junín in particular accounts for around a quarter of the country's total production, where coffee grows in rainforest landscapes east of the Andes. Coffees grown in Peru are generally considered to offer accessible profiles, and for this reason are often used in blends. However, Machina liked the taste of this one so much they felt it deserved billing as a single origin in its own right.
